“lifeguard” by Sarah Calvo

When I thought

my world was left to rot

my heart was broken,

my eyes flooded.

The ocean was strong

too many emotions

rushing through my veins.

I was drowning in my own self-pity

hoping someone might notice

but no one did,

and right before I let the current take me,

when I had lost I hope,

it was you that saved me,

the light that prevented the rain

by evaporating all the pain.

All this time and it was you that I was looking for,

the only one that could mend my heart.
