Chaos

My slitted eyes dart around,

As I slither and slink through the world.

I go forth forever, until I have found

The fruits of my labor universally unfurled.

From the tiniest atom, to the largest galaxy,

My venom infects my victim with inevitable lethality,

The only guaranteed finale.

“How can you claim such a thing?” you may ask.

If one looks hard enough, my handiwork is everywhere.

Quantum particles disappear and reappear randomly into existence,

Breaking all the rules you think define creation,

But make no mistake, that is due to my persistence.

My galaxies constantly defy order; voracious black holes, violent supernovae,

Only when they die will there be a reprieve from anarchy.

You have seen me in your life, catching a glimpse of my tail,

As I leave the scene of an accident, disaster, storm, or

Other incident where I always prevail.

Some try to understand me, confining me within a logical theory,

Wasting their flash of existence on studying me until weak and weary,

Until their query leaves them demoralized and dreary,

Because they have begun to understand my true nature.

Every iota in the universe decays out of order, this is proof abound

That I stretch over all existence uncurled,

And I will go forth forever, until I have found

The fruits of my labor universally unfurled.
